  2. QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ABOUT THE TOP SECRET-EYES ONLY UFO BRIEFING DOCUMENTS:

  4. 1. Is there any other evidence that the U.S. government retrieved a crashed
  5.    alien craft outside Roswell, New Mexico in July, 1947?
  6.  
  7.     Moore and Friedman have since 1978 conducted a very, very extensive
  8.     research project concerning the so-called Roswell Incident. To date, 92
  9.     different people have been located and interviewed about the event, 31 of
  10.     whom had first-hand involvement. Included are several generals, the base
  11.     security officer, counter-intelligence corps personnel, the neighbors and
  12.     family of the rancher who discovered the wrecked device, the public
  13.     relations officer of the air base, local news media personnel, etc. etc.
  14.     To date, one book and five research papers have been published presenting
  15.     the data.

  18. 2. Is there any proof that the event was first publicized and then covered up
  19.    by the government?
  20.  
  21.     Yes. A press release was first distributed by the Army Air Force at
  22.     Roswell stating that a crashed disc had been recovered. Then shortly
  23.     afterwards the head of the 8th Air Force announced that a mistake had been
  24.     made and that it was only a radar reflector from a weather balloon. The
  25.     officer who took the call from Washington, DC with the instructions to
  26.     cover-up the story has so testified to Friedman and Moore. Many people who
  27.     handled the very strange materials have testified that the material could
  28.     not have been from a radar reflector. Ten first-hand witnesses are on
  29.     record as having stated that the object was, in fact, some sort of space
  30.     craft.

  33. 3. Was there any evidence of strange writing on the retrieved material?
  34.  
  35.     Yes. five persons who actually handled pieces of the wreckage have
  36.     described very unusual symbols on pieces of the wreckage.

  39. 4. Is there any evidence that President-elect Eisenhower received a military
  40.    briefing on 18 November, 1952?
  41.  
  42.     Yes. Information at the Eisenhower Library and in the Truman files
  43.     indicates White House and Pentagon briefings on that date. A Washington
  44.     _Post_ article also confirms a briefing on that date.

  47. 5. Is there any evidence that Bush and Forrestal met with Truman on Sept.
  48.    24th, 1947?
  49.  
  50.     Yes. Forrestal's diary, Bush's files and the Truman Library listing of
  51.     Presidential activities all establish that Bush and Forrestal first met
  52.     with each other and then with Truman on that date. Bush and Forrestal
  53.     often met with each other during the 1947-1949 time frame.

  56. 6. Is there any evidence that the Cutler to Twining "Top Secret-Eyes Only"
  57.    memo is genuine?
  58.  
  59.     Yes. There are several factors to be considered here:
  60.      A. It was found in a file box at the National Archives by Moore and
  61.         Shandera who were the first persons to go through the newly
  62.         declassified materials.
  63.      B. The archivist Joanna Williamson who was in charge of the RG 341 file
  64.         is quoted in the London _Observer_ as saying "It was found in the
  65.         files of the U.S. Air Force's Director of Intelligence and is
  66.         certainly genuine."
  67.      C. A very similar in format and content "Top Secret-Eyes Only" memo was
  68.         sent by Cutler to Twining in 1953 about a similar NSC meeting on
  69.         another, unrelated, project.

  72. 7. Why is there no signature on the memo?
  73.  
  74.     The file copy was a carbon. Carbons are not normally signed.

  77. 8. Is there any reason at all to think that Harvard Astronomer Dr. Donald
  78.    Menzel, who wrote three anti-UFO books and many articles, could really have
  79.    been part of a Top Secret-Eyes Only group that knew some UFOs were
  80.    "Identified Alien Craft"?

  82.     As a result of extended research by Friedman at Harvard and elsewhere,
  83.     these facts have been established about Menzel:
  84.      A. Menzel once mentioned in a letter written to President-elect Jack
  85.         Kennedy that he possessed a Top Secret-Ultra security clearance.
  86.      B. Menzel claimed to JFK in 1960 that he had a longer continuous
  87.         association with the highly classified National Security Agency (NSA)
  88.         and its predecessor U.S. Navy agency than anyone else in the
  89.         government at that time.
  90.      C. Menzel's association with Dr. Vannevar Bush, wartime head of the
  91.         Office of Scientific Research and Development, dates back to 1934.
  92.      D. Bush was the staunchest Menzel defender at a USAF loyalty hearing in
  93.         1950. Indeed, Bush had instructed Menzel's attorney to notify him
  94.         (Bush) immediately upon resolution of the loyalty problem.
  95.      E. Menzel worked on classified programs for more than 30 different
  96.         companies.
  97.      F. Menzel is on record as having made numerous trips during 1947 to both
  98.         Washington, DC and New Mexico on government research activities.
  99.      G. Menzel had learned Japanese for his cryptography work for the Navy,
  100.         was familiar with disinformation, and would have been the perfect
  101.         person to show the Roswell writing to.
  102.      H. Menzel had written science fiction and popular newspaper articles for
  103.         major papers. He was the best qualified of the 12 to put out
  104.         disinformation and his first book was translated into Russian.

  107. 9. The documents indicate that a second object crashed in Texas on the night
  108.    of December 6th-7th , 1950. Is there any indication that such an event ever
  109.    occurred?
  110.  
  111.     Yes. A copy of an official communique was located in files released by the
  112.     FBI indicating a "high alert" status about UFOs had been called by the Air
  113.     Force on December 8th, 1950. There are also several newspaper articles
  114.     indicating that military leaves at various airbases were abruptly
  115.     cancelled that same day.

  118. 10. What about other official documentary evidence?

  120.     A formerly Top Secret Canadian memo dated November, 1950, states that "the
  121.     matter (of UFOs) is the most highly classified subject in the United
  122.     States Government" and identified Dr. Vannevar Bush as head of a project
  123.     which was trying to discover how UFOs work.

  126. 11. Isn't it true that Admiral Hillenkoetter was actually serving in the
  127.     Pacific at the time of the supposed Eisenhower briefing?
  128.  
  129.     No. The facts are that he had been assigned to Pacific duty in November,
  130.     1950, but he returned as commander of the Brookly, NY, Naval Base in
  131.     September, 1951. In June, 1952, he was named Commandant of the US Navy
  132.     Third District and was based in New York City.

  135. 12. Doesn't it seem strange that General Eisenhower had to be briefed in 1952
  136.     on matters about which he surely would have been informed as Army Chief of
  137.     Staff years earlier?
  138.  
  139.     Not at all. The facts are that he accepted the job as President of
  140.     Columbia University in June, 1947 -- _before_ the Roswell Incident and the
  141.     establishment of Majestic 12. He served until May, 1950, when he began a
  142.     very difficult job in Europe as Supreme Commander of the NATO forces
  143.     trying to unify a number of different military and political factions. He
  144.     remained there until 1952 when he returned to campaign for the presidency.
  145.     In other words, he had no "need-to-know" during the period July, 1947
  146.     through November, 1952. His forte was neither intelligence nor technology.
